Russian Futurism Shirt by Iliazd (Il’ja Zdanevic) “Ostrov Paskhi” (Easter Island)

The splendid work of Il’ja Zdanevič (otherwise known as Iliazd) decorating this shirt, “Ostrov Paskhi” (Easter Island), was published in 1919 as a title page. Zdanevič, a Russian artist, writer, and poet, fell in love at a young age with the ideas of Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and the Italian Futurist movement of which he was an active popularizer and activist in Russia in the 1910s. The influence of Italian Futurism is, in fact, evident in the work we have chosen to embellish this shirt.
